The First Cloak

Ibn Ezra on Psalm 104:2Public DomainEnglish translation

English Translation

"Wrapping Himself" (Psalm 104:2): He mentioned that the visible part of His garment is the light, and He wraps Himself in it like a cloak, after the manner of "as with a garment he covers himself" (Psalm 73:6). And this light is the one mentioned in the account of creation, which was created on the first day. "Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain" (Psalm 104:2): on the second day, after the manner of "and he stretched them out like a tent to dwell in" (Isaiah 40:22).
