Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 4, 2026. This policy describes how jewishmythology.com handles your information.
Overview
Jewish Mythology is a static website served as pre-built HTML pages directly to your browser. We do not require user accounts, logins, or registration of any kind, and we do not collect or store personal data on our servers. The one server-side feature is the "Ask Maggid" chat assistant: when you send it a message, that request is handled by a Cloudflare Worker that forwards your question to Cloudflare Workers AI and returns an answer in real time. It processes only the text you submit (and, on a myth page, the text of the myth you are reading); it does not require or collect personal data, and nothing is retained after the response is generated. See "Third-Party Services" below for details.
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, store, or process:
- Names, email addresses, or contact information
- Passwords or account credentials
- Payment or financial information
- User-generated content or form submissions
- Location data (beyond what may be inferred by third-party services from your IP address)
No Advertising or Paid Content
JewishMythology.com does not display advertising, does not use Google AdSense, does not sell ad placements on content pages, and does not put texts or stories behind paid tiers, memberships, or paywalls. We do not share your browsing activity with advertising networks.
Cookies
Jewish Mythology itself does not require first-party cookies for core reading, search, or browsing features. Third-party services used for analytics or embedded functionality may set cookies in your browser:
- Google Analytics (GA4) may use cookies or similar identifiers to measure aggregate site usage. These cookies are governed by Google's privacy policy.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies or alert you when a cookie is being set. Disabling cookies will not affect the site's core functionality.
Third-Party Services
Our site interacts with the following third-party services:
- Sefaria API - We use the Sefaria API to fetch biblical verse text for our verse popover feature. These requests are made directly from your browser to Sefaria's servers. No personal data is sent by our site to Sefaria; requests contain only the verse reference being looked up. Sefaria's own privacy policy governs their handling of those requests.
- Google Analytics (GA4) - We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. Google Analytics collects anonymized usage data including pages visited, time on site, and referral sources. This data is processed by Google under their privacy policy. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Hebcal API - We use the Hebcal API to determine the current week's Torah portion (parsha) for our Parsha of the Week feature. These requests are made from your browser to Hebcal's servers and include only a geographic location ID (New York) for Shabbat time calculation. No personal data is sent. Hebcal's privacy policy governs their handling of those requests.
- Cloudflare Workers AI - Our "Ask Maggid" chat assistant, available on every page, uses Cloudflare Workers AI to answer your questions about the site's myths and sources. When you send a message, your question is sent to Cloudflare's infrastructure, where it is used to generate vector embeddings (to find relevant texts, via the BAAI bge-base-en model) and to produce an AI-generated answer using a large language model (currently Meta Llama 4 Scout; the specific model may be updated over time). On a myth page, the text of the myth you are reading is also sent so the answer can be grounded in that passage; otherwise the answer is drawn from JewishMythology.com's own published retellings. Your questions are processed in real time and are not stored by us, nor retained by Cloudflare after the response is generated. No personal data, account information, or browsing history is sent - only the text of your question, any follow-up questions within the same chat session, and the on-page myth text. Conversation history is held only in your browser's memory and is cleared when you close the chat or refresh the page. Cloudflare's privacy policy governs their handling of data processed through Workers AI.
Data Security
We do not collect or store personal data on our servers. "Ask Maggid" chat queries are processed in real time by Cloudflare Workers AI and are not retained after generating a response. Our site is served over HTTPS to ensure that your connection to jewishmythology.com is encrypted.
Children's Privacy
Our site is intended for a general audience and is educational in nature. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children or any other users, as we do not collect personal information from anyone.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Since we do not collect email addresses, we cannot notify users of changes directly — we encourage you to review this page periodically.
