Jewish Mythology is an educational and informational resource that presents adapted versions of ancient Jewish texts. The Site is intended for study, research, and personal enrichment. It is not a substitute for professional religious, legal, historical, or academic guidance.
The texts presented on this Site are adapted from public domain works and openly licensed sources, including but not limited to:
Original source citations are provided on each text page. Each text carries a license or provenance field in our database tracking the license or permission basis of its source translation or the fact that the entry is an original editorial adaptation. Dead Sea Scrolls entries are original JewishMythology.com adaptations from manuscript references and provenance-pinned summaries; no modern English translation is imported. These adaptations are made for accessibility and readability; they are not new translations of the original Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek texts. Public reading on JewishMythology.com is free, ad-free, and paywall-free.
Where a passage exists only in a provenance-pinned original and no reliable open or owner-permission-covered English translation is available, JewishMythology.com also publishes its own original faithful English translations, produced with editorial and AI assistance and credited to our editorial voice, Maggid. Translation pages disclose their review state: a Beta translation has not yet cleared the full review bar, an AI-verified translation has passed deterministic checks and independent multi-model fidelity review, and a human-verified translation has been checked by a qualified human reader. These are our original work, made from provenance-pinned source texts, and offered for free public reading. Each source page credits the actual producer of the text it shows: an imported public-domain, openly licensed, or owner-permission-covered translation keeps its original translator/edition credit (for example, R. H. Charles or the relevant Sefaria edition), while our own translations are credited to Maggid.
While we strive to present texts faithfully, all content on this Site consists of adaptations and retellings, not critical scholarly editions. We make no warranty or guarantee regarding:
Users should consult original sources, scholarly translations, and qualified experts for authoritative versions of these texts.
The Site's "Ask Maggid" chat assistant generates answers using a third-party AI language model. Its responses are produced automatically, may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading, and are not reviewed by us before they are shown to you. They are offered only as a convenience for exploring the Site's retellings and sources, and must not be relied upon as authoritative, scholarly, or religious guidance.
The underlying ancient texts are public-domain, openly licensed, or owner-permission-covered where source translations are used. Some records are original editorial adaptations from manuscript references and provenance-pinned summaries rather than imported translations. Our specific adaptations, site design, logo, stories, video scripts, social media content, and all other original editorial content are the property of Jewish Mythology and are protected by copyright. The selection, arrangement, and curation of texts on this Site constitute a copyrightable compilation.
Exceptions: Our adaptations of the 16 Sippurei Maasiyot texts are licensed under CC-BY-SA 4.0 in compliance with the ShareAlike terms of the source translation. Texts sourced from the CC-BY-NC Tanya translation are presented on a site with no ads, no paywalls, and no paid content tiers in compliance with the NonCommercial requirement.
You may quote or reference individual texts from the Site with appropriate attribution to JewishMythology.com. Systematic scraping, bulk reproduction, or republication of our adapted texts is not permitted without prior written consent. For licensing inquiries, contact hello@jewishmythology.com.
