Jericho Singled Out, Weighed Against All the Rest

Yalkut Shimoni on Nach 8:1

"View the land, and Jericho" (Joshua 2:1). Jericho was included in "the land," so why was it singled out? This teaches that it was weighed against all of them. Similarly you say, "And Moses sent them... and Phinehas" (Numbers 31:6) - Phinehas was included, so why was he singled out? This teaches that he was weighed against all of them. Similarly you say, "nineteen men and Asahel" (II Samuel 2:30) - was Asahel not included? Why was he singled out? Because he was weighed against all of them. Similarly, "And King Solomon loved many foreign women, and the daughter of Pharaoh" (I Kings 11:1) - the daughter of Pharaoh was included, so why was she singled out? This teaches that he cherished her more than all of them, and therefore she caused him to sin more than all of them. Similarly, "from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul" (II Samuel 22:1) - Saul was included, so why was he singled out? Because he was weighed against all of them.
