Why Priests Earn the Foreleg, Jaws, and Maw Through Phinehas

Midrash Aggadah, Deuteronomy 18:3

"The foreleg, the jaws, and the maw" (Deuteronomy 18:3). By what merit did the priests become worthy of these three gifts? On account of the deed of Phinehas. The foreleg, corresponding to "and he took a spear in his hand" (Numbers 25:7). The jaws, on account of "and he prayed, and the plague was stayed" (ibid., ibid. 8). The maw, corresponding to "and the woman through her belly" (ibid.).
