Abraham Knew His Creator at Three and the World Stands on Torah

"And in your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed." Had Israel not accepted the Torah, the world would have been laid waste; and likewise, all the good things that come into the world come for the sake of Israel, who accepted the Torah. "Because [ekev] you have hearkened to My voice" — to the voice of the Holy One, blessed be He. From here you learn that at three years old Abraham recognized the voice of the Holy One, blessed be He, and knew his Creator. For he was only one hundred and seventy-five years old, and he did the will of the Holy One, blessed be He, for one hundred and seventy-two years — corresponding to the numerical value of "ekev" (ekev).
