Scattered with a Winnowing Fork and the Sword That Follows Exile

Midrash Aggadah, Leviticus 26:33

"And you I will scatter among the nations" (Leviticus 26:33) — that you shall not be seeing one another and taking comfort, but rather I will scatter you with a winnowing fork to every direction. "And I will draw out a sword after you. And your land shall be a desolation, and your cities shall be a ruin" — that every one of you shall not be able to return to his house, and his house shall be ruined, and in his gardens there shall not remain a trace of a tree, on account of the length of the exile.
