This teaches that the sin offering is sacrificed before the burnt offering in every instance. “And the ram, he shall prepare as a peace offering to the Lord, with the basket of unleavened bread, and the priest shall perform its meal offering, and its libation” (Numbers 6:17). “And the ram, he shall prepare as a peace offering.” This tells us that the burnt offering precedes the peace offering. “With the basket of unleavened bread” – he shall have the bread precede the slaughter of the ram, as the bread is sanctified only with the blood of the slaughter. “And the priest shall perform his meal offering…” – this is for the purpose that we stated.136At the end of section 19.
