"And Moses said" etc. (Exodus 4:1). Rabbi Elazar ben Arakh said: For seven days the Holy One, blessed be He, kept pressing Moses to go on His mission, as it is written, "neither yesterday, nor the day before, nor since You first spoke" (Exodus 4:10): "also yesterday" (one), "also the day before" (two), "also the third day before" (three), "since You first spoke" (and so on) "also since then" (counting six), and this was the seventh day.
