"For they have indeed come under the shadow of my roof" (Genesis 19:8). This teaches that his wife said to him: The people of the city have refrained from receiving guests, and you bring them into the house? Do you wish that they kill you and kill me? And if you want to receive them, divide the house with me, and let the guests be in your portion. Therefore it is said, "under the shadow of my roof."
