Why Moses Carved Twelve Staffs From a Single Beam

Midrash Aggadah, Numbers 17:21

"And all their princes gave to him a staff for each prince, etc." (Numbers 17:21). Moses took a single beam and made from it twelve staffs, so that they should not say that Aaron's staff had the Ineffable Name within it, and that for this reason it blossomed: "and the staff of Aaron was among their staffs." He placed it in the middle, so that they should not say it was close to the Shekhinah and that for this reason it blossomed.
