Do Not Move the Ancient Boundary and the Prayers the Patriarchs Set

Midrash Mishlei 22:7

(Proverbs 22:28): "Do not move the ancient boundary that your fathers made" - Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai said: a custom that your fathers established, do not change it. For example: Abraham established the morning prayer, as it is written (Genesis 19:27): "And Abraham rose early in the morning to the place where he had stood before the LORD." And Isaac established the afternoon prayer, as it is said (Genesis 24:63): "And Isaac went out to meditate in the field toward evening." And Jacob established the evening prayer, as it is said (Genesis 28:11): "And he came upon the place and lodged there because the sun had set." So that you not say, "I too will add another" - as it is said, "that your fathers made": only what your fathers made. Rabbi Yochanan said: your fathers did not make them for themselves alone, but they are made for all the generations.
