The Ten Words for Joy in the Mouth of the Prophets

Pesikta DeRav Kahana 20:4

"Break forth into singing and shout, you who did not travail" (Isaiah 54:1). By ten terms is gladness called: gilah, simhah, sisah, alisah, alitzah, pitzhah, rinah, tzahalah, hedvah, har'ah. And there are those who omit har'ah and bring in ditzah, "and before him sorrow leaps for joy" (Job 41:14), prancing like this little creature.
