Pharaoh's Star Named Evil and the Blood Turned to Covenant

"This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from upon you" (Joshua 5:9). For Pharaoh had seen by his astrology, and he said to Israel, "See that evil is set before your faces." He said to them, "I see by my astrology one star rising toward you, and its name is Evil, and it is a sign of blood and slaughter." And when Israel sinned in the wilderness with the calf, and the Holy One, blessed be He, sought to kill them, Moses asked in his prayer, "Why should the Egyptians say, He brought them out with evil intent?" (Exodus 32:12). This is what we told you: "See that evil is set before your faces." "And the LORD relented from the evil which He had spoken" (Exodus 32:14), and He turned the blood into the blood of circumcision, with which Joshua circumcised them. This is the meaning of "This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt," for they had been saying, "We see blood upon you."
