Three Kinds of Drawing Near for War Prayer and Peace

Yalkut Shimoni on Nach 22:10

"And the children of Judah drew near to Joshua" (Joshua 14:6). We find a drawing near for war, a drawing near for prayer, and a drawing near for appeasement. A drawing near for war, as it is said, "and Joab drew near, and the people that were with him, to battle" (2 Samuel 10:13). A drawing near for prayer, "and it came to pass at the time of the evening offering, that Elijah the prophet drew near" (1 Kings 18:36). A drawing near for appeasement: "and the children of Judah drew near to Joshua" to appease him.
