The Great Man Among the Anakim Adam and the Patriarchs

Yalkut Shimoni on Nach 23:5

"The greatest man among the Anakim" (Joshua 14:15). "The man" is Adam the first man. "The great" refers to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who were called great. Of Abraham it says, "and the LORD has blessed my master exceedingly, and he has become great" (Genesis 24:35). Of Isaac it is written, "and the man waxed great, and grew more and more until he became very great" (Genesis 26:13). Of Jacob it is written, "and the boys grew" (Genesis 25:27). And Esau was included with them, but he corrupted his deeds and despised the birthright and became small, as it is said, "behold, I have made you small among the nations" (Obadiah 1:2).
