Deborah Sang Because Day and Night Both Belong to God

"Then Deborah sang" (Judges 5:1) is ten times reckoned among the songs (this is written above, in another teaching). And this is what Scripture says: "Yours is the day, Yours also the night" (Psalms 74:16). Yours is the day, praising You; Yours is the night, praising You. Just as the night is under Your authority, so the day is under Your authority. When You work miracles for us by day, the day is Yours; when You work miracles for us by night, the night also is Yours. When You work miracles for us by day, we recite song before You by day, as it is said, "Then Deborah and Barak son of Abinoam sang on that day, saying" (Judges 5:1). And when You work miracles for us by night, we recite song before You by day, as it is said, "Then Deborah and Barak son of Abinoam sang on that day, saying." And when You work miracles for us by night, we recite song before You by night, as it is said, "You shall have a song as in the night when a holy feast is kept" (Isaiah 30:29). To You it is fitting to sing by day, and to You it is fitting to sing by night. Why? Because You have established the luminary and the sun (Psalms 74:16).
