"And the vine said to them" (Judges 9:13). Rabbi Shmuel bar Nachmani said in the name of Rabbi Yonatan: From where do we learn that song is recited only over wine? As it is said, "And the vine said to them, Should I cease my new wine, which gladdens God and men?" (Judges 9:13). If it gladdens men, with what does it gladden God? From here [we learn] that song is recited only over wine.
