Rabbah bar bar Hannah said in the name of Rabbi Yochanan: On the fifteenth of Av, the tribe of Benjamin was permitted to enter the congregation [to intermarry], as it is written, "And the men of Israel had sworn at Mizpah, saying: None of us shall give his daughter to Benjamin as a wife" (Judges 21:1). What did they expound? "None of us" -- and not from our children. [The oath bound only those who swore it, not the next generation, who were therefore free to give their daughters to Benjamin.]
