Hannah Rose After Eating but Did Not Drink

Yalkut Shimoni on Nach 77:13

"And Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh" (1 Samuel 1:9). Rabbi Yehudah of the village of Gevoraya expounded: From where do we learn that one does not allot wine to a woman? As it is said, "And Hannah rose up after she had eaten in Shiloh, and after drinking" - "he drank" is written, and not "she drank." But if so, "she ate and he did not eat" would also follow? We say it from the fact that Scripture changed its wording: since the verse is dealing with her, why did it change [to the masculine]? Learn from this: he drank and she did not drink. It was taught: One cup of wine is becoming for a woman; two are a disgrace for her; with three she becomes brazen of mouth [and demands openly]; with four, even an ass she will demand, and she is not particular. Rava said: We said this only when her husband is not with her, but when her husband is with her, we have no concern. But here was Hannah, whose husband was with her? A guest [lodging away from home] is different, for Rav Yehudah said: From where do we learn that a guest is forbidden marital relations? As it is said, "And they rose early in the morning and worshiped before the LORD, and returned and came to their house at Ramah, and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife" (1 Samuel 1:19) - now, yes [at home]; beforehand [as guests in Shiloh], no.
