The Laws of True Prayer Drawn From Hannah's Lips

Yalkut Shimoni on Nach 78:13

Rav Hamnuna said: how many weighty laws can be derived from these verses about Hannah! "And Hannah, she was speaking upon her heart" (I Samuel 1:13) — from here that prayer requires intention of the heart. "Only her lips moved" — from here that one who prays must shape the words with his lips. "But her voice was not heard" — from here that one who prays is forbidden to raise his voice in his prayer. "And Eli thought her to be drunk" — from here that a drunken person is forbidden to pray. "And Eli said to her, How long will you be drunk?" — Rabbi Elazar said: from here that one who sees in his fellow something unseemly must rebuke him.
