Rabbi Yochanan said: from where do we know that all dreams follow the mouth [the interpretation given to them]? As it is said "And it came to pass, just as he interpreted to us, so it was." Rava said: and that is only when one interprets it in line with the substance of the dream, as it is said (Genesis 40:12) "each man according to his dream he interpreted." It is written, "And the chief baker saw that he had interpreted well." How did he know? Rabbi Elazar said: this teaches that each one of them saw in his own dream the interpretation of his companion's dream as well. "I too in my dream." (Written in remez 27.)

אָמַר רַבִּי יוֹחָנָן, מִנַּיִן שֶׁכָּל הַחֲלוֹמוֹת הוֹלְכִין אַחַר הַפֶּה, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר "וַיְהִי כַּאֲשֶׁר פָּתַר לָנוּ כֵּן הָיָה". אָמַר רָבָא, וְהוּא דְּפָתַר לֵיהּ מֵעֵין חַלְמֵיהּ, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (שם, יב) "אִישׁ כַּחֲלֹמוֹ פָּתָר". כְּתִיב וַיַּרְא שַׂר הָאֹפִים כִּי טוֹב פָּתָר. מִנָּא יָדַע, אָמַר רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר, מְלַמֵּד שֶׁכָּל אֶחָד וְאֶחָד רָאָה בַּחֲלוֹמוֹ פִּתְרוֹן חֲלוֹמוֹ שֶׁל חֲבֵרוֹ. אַף אֲנִי בַּחֲלוֹמִי.
