The LORD Will Fight for You and You Shall Be Silent

Yalkut Shimoni on Torah 233:2

"The LORD will fight for you" (Exodus 14:14). Not for the moment alone but forever, as it is said, "The LORD will fight for you." Rabbi Meir says: "The LORD will fight for you" - if He does so when you are silent, how much more so when you offer praise and song of praise. Rabbi [Judah the Prince] says: "The LORD will fight for you" - the Omnipresent will perform for you miracles and mighty acts, and you will stand and be silent. Israel said to Moses, Moses our teacher, what are we to do? He said to them, You shall glorify and exalt and praise, and so forth. At that moment Israel opened their mouths and sang the song, "I will sing to the LORD, for He has triumphed gloriously" (Exodus 15:1).
