Rabbi Nechemiah said: All the boards were overlaid with gold within and without. And the middle bar that passed through inside the hollow of the boards was concealed within a tube of gold. The length of each board was a cubit and a half, set within the hollow of the board, and the middle bar was hidden in them from end to end (Exodus 26).
