Fresh from his encounter with God, after that powerful dream we talked about, he set off toward Haran. And then...bam! He's there. No long journey, no weary steps. The earth, according to the legends, just jumped from Mount Moriah to Haran.

Can you imagine?

The Legends of the Jews, that incredible collection by Ginzberg, tells us this was no ordinary commute. It was a full-blown miracle, one of only four times God performed such a feat in history! Talk about express delivery.

So, he arrives in Haran, and what's the first thing he sees? A well. But not just any well. This was the well, the life source for the whole city. Now, Haran wasn't exactly overflowing with water. In fact, they were struggling with a real shortage. So, access to the well wasn't free. You had to pay for every drop.

But guess what happens when Jacob, this righteous man blessed by God, sets foot in the city?

Everything changes.

Because of his ma'asim tovim, his good deeds, the water sources were blessed. Suddenly, Haran had enough water for everyone. Abundance where there was scarcity. It's a beautiful image, isn't it?

It makes you wonder, doesn't it? What kind of impact can we have on the places we go? What blessings might we bring, simply by being present, by living a life of chesed, of loving-kindness? Maybe, just maybe, we all have the potential to make the world a little more abundant, a little more blessed, just by showing up.
