Yehoshua says: Moses called it Massah and Merivah, it being written "And he called the name of the place Massah and Merivah." R. Elazar Hamodai says: The L–rd, (who is called "Makom" ("the Place"), called it Massah and Merivah, it being written "And He, the Makom, called it Massah and Merivah" — whence it is seen that the Holy One Blessed be He is called "Makom."
