Why the Land Reclaims Its Sabbaths Twice in Leviticus

Midrash Aggadah, Leviticus 26:43

"And the land shall be forsaken of them, and shall be paid her sabbaths" (Leviticus 26:43). How grave is the dust of the seventh year! For this verse was already stated above, "then shall the land be paid her sabbaths" (verse 34), and yet it repeated and said, "and shall be paid her sabbaths." And why all this? Because he who transgresses it denies the fundamental principle. For the Holy One, blessed be He, said, "for the land is Mine" (Leviticus 25:23): sow for six years and let it lie fallow in the seventh, so that you may know that the land is Mine.
