Rabbi Eleazar and the Sages' Measure for a Cup of Wine

Pesikta DeRav Kahana 11:20

Rabbi Eleazar son of Rabbi Shimon went to his father-in-law, Rabbi Shimon son of Yose son of Lakonya. He slaughtered an ox for him and baked him a whole batch of bread and opened a jug of wine for him. He kept mixing it for him and he kept drinking, mixing it for him and he kept drinking. He said to him: is it possible that you heard from your father what the proper measure of a cup is? He said to him: as it is, undiluted, one; with cold water, two; with hot water, three. But the sages did not fix their measure for your cup, which is small, nor for your wine, which is fine, nor for my belly, which is wide.
