"Arise, shine" (Isaiah 60:1). "Therefore honor the LORD in the regions of light" (Isaiah 24:15). With what do they honor Him? With these lanterns. Rabbi Abbahu said: with two luminaries, "and God made the two great lights" (Genesis 1:16). How is this? The sun shines and we bless over it; the moon shines and we bless over it. And the rabbis say: the Holy One, blessed be He, said to Israel: My children, since My light is your light and your light is My light, I and you, let us go and give light to Zion. "Arise, shine, for your light has come" (Isaiah 60:1).
