The colours of a candle are the garments, for: (ibid.) A candle of Ha-Shem is the soul of a human.
The colour black, which is the spleen, when the animating-soul becomes enclothed there through sins, it says: (Song. 1:6) Do not look upon me for I am blackened... – blackened with the darkness of My children, in their oppression, in their poverty.
Darkness and mockery and poverty emerge from the spleen, when the soul is imprisoned within it in exile. And this is: (Prov. 30:23)... and a maidservant when she inherits her mistress. And at that time, the spleen laughs.
