The Kings Joshua Defeated Who Feasted with Abraham

Yalkut Shimoni on Nach 22:7

Rabbi Shmuel bar Nachmani said: All those thirty-one [variant: thirty-two; variant: sixty] kings whom Joshua killed were all at the feast of our father Abraham, as it is said, "and Abraham made a great feast" (Genesis 21:8) — great ones were there. But were they not thirty-one? Rather, this accords with what Rabbi Berachyah and Rabbi Chelbo and Rabbi Parnach said in the name of Rabbi Yochanan: "The king of Jericho, one" (Joshua 12:9) — there is no need for Scripture to say "one," except that it means him and his viceroy. Rabbi Yehudah said: Now, were these thirty-one kings all in the Land of Israel? Rather, just as they do in Rome today, where every king who has not acquired a palace in Rome says he has done nothing, so too every king who had not acquired estates and holdings in the Land of Israel said he had done nothing. This is the meaning of "and I gave you a desirable land, the most beautiful heritage of the hosts of nations" (Jeremiah 3:19).
