"And they lent them" (Exodus 12:36). This teaches that they lent to them against their will. Some say: against the will of the Egyptians, as it is written (Psalms 68:13), "And she that tarries at home divides the spoil." And some say: against the will of Israel, on account of the burden [of carrying so much]. "And they despoiled Egypt." Rabbi Assi said: they made it like a deep [pool] that has no fish in it. Rabbi Shimon ben Lakish said: like a trap that has no grain in it.
