(Exodus 13:3-4) "And Moses said to the people: Remember…" I would know only that one mentions the exodus from Egypt by day; from where by night? Scripture teaches, "that you may remember the day of your going out from the land of Egypt all the days of your life" (Deuteronomy 16:3). "The days of your life" means the days; "all the days of your life" includes the nights — these are the words of Ben Zoma. But the Sages say: "the days of your life" means this world; "all the days of your life" comes to include the days of the Messiah. Ben Zoma said to them: Will Israel in the time to come still mention the exodus from Egypt? For it is said, "Therefore, behold, days are coming… but rather, As the LORD lives who brought up and who led the seed of the house of Israel" (Jeremiah 23:7-8) — this tells that they will not mention the exodus from Egypt in the time to come. [The Sages held that even then the Exodus will be mentioned, only secondary to the future redemption.]
