Rav Huna raised a contradiction: it is written, "nor shall the fat of My feast offering remain until the morning" (Exodus 23:18); "until the morning" it shall not remain, implying that all night it may remain. But it is written, "and he shall burn upon it the fat of the peace offerings" (Leviticus 6:5), "upon it," meaning complete all the offerings upon it [by burning everything that night]. He himself raised the difficulty and he himself resolved it: this refers to a case where the offerings were left over [and not burned in their proper time]. Rav Safra raised a contradiction before Rava: it is written, "the sacrifice of the Feast of Passover shall not remain until the morning" (Exodus 34:25); "until the morning" it shall not remain, implying that all night it may remain. But it is written, "the burnt offering of the Sabbath on its Sabbath" (Numbers 28:10), and not the burnt offering of a weekday on the Sabbath, and not the burnt offering of a weekday on a festival. He said to him: Rabbi Abba bar Chiyya already raised this before Rabbi Abbahu, and he answered him: here we are dealing with the fourteenth of Nisan that falls on the Sabbath, for the fats of the Sabbath may be offered on the festival, and so on. We leave aside a verse that is forced and applies itself only to its own narrow case.
