It is, therefore, written "from day to day"—to exclude Sabbaths and festivals. R. Yoshiyah says: "from day to day": Since both mezuzah and tefillin are positive commandments, if we have learned that mezuzah obtains on Sabbaths and festivals, so, tefillin. It is, therefore, written "from day to day." Variantly: "from day to day": There are days that you wear (tefillin) and there are days that you do not wear (tefillin)—to exclude Sabbaths and festivals. These are the words of R. Oshiyah.
