One Torah for the Native-Born and the Convert Who Accepts It All

Mekhilta DeRabbi Shimon Ben Yochai 12:49

"One law shall there be for the native-born" (Exodus 12:49). Just as the native-born is one who has accepted upon himself all the words of the Torah, so too the convert is one who has accepted upon himself all the words of the Torah. From here they said: a convert who accepted upon himself all the words of the Torah except for one thing — we do not receive him. Rabbi Yose son of Rabbi Yehudah says: even one matter of the fine points of the scribes. "For the convert" — this is the convert. "The convert" — to include the wives of converts. "In your midst" — to include the women and the freed slaves.
