"And Moses said: When the LORD gives you meat to eat at evening" (Exodus 16:8). From here you learn that the meat was given to Israel with a darkened countenance, but the manna with a shining countenance. "Your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD." They said to them: if it were against us that you stand and complain, we would not be distressed; but you stand and complain before the One who endures forever, blessed be He.
