"He who turns away his ear from hearing Torah" (Proverbs 28:9) - Rav Huna said: Anyone to whom the words of Torah are not beloved, "even his prayer is an abomination." Rabbi Chanin said: It is stated here "he who turns away his ear from hearing Torah," and elsewhere it says (Proverbs 21:13): "he who stops his ear from the cry of the poor" - just as there, "he too will call out and not be answered," so too here, "his prayer is an abomination."
He Who Turns His Ear From Torah His Prayer Is Loathsome
Midrash Mishlei 28:2
