Hannah's Vow and Her Plea to Be Remembered at Shiloh

"And she vowed a vow" (1 Samuel 1:11). Rav said: She said, "If I am of the upper beings, I shall not die; and if I am of the lower beings, let me be fruitful and multiply like the lower beings." Rav said: It was the pilgrimage festivals. She said before Him, "Master of all the worlds, of all the multitudes that are before You, will You not remember me as one of them?" Rabbi Chaggai said in the name of Rabbi Yitzchak: "How many nests of swarming things and creeping things are before You, and yet You do not remember me as one of them?" Rabbi Zakkai the Elder said: It is like Lulutos, past whose table a poor man passed. He said to him, "Earn merit through me." He said to him, "Go on, and you shall come to me." She said to Him, "Of all the multitudes that are before You, will You not remember me as one of them?"
