"For the LORD delights in His people; He adorns the humble with salvation" (Psalms 149:4). Rabbi Joshua of Sikhnin in the name of Rabbi Levi: The Holy One, blessed be He, delights in the offerings of Israel - "He adorns the humble with salvation" - and "salvation" here means nothing other than an offering, as it is said, "And the LORD had regard for Abel and for his offering" (Genesis 4:4). "For the LORD delights in His people" (Psalms 149:4) - the Holy One, blessed be He, delights in the offerings of Israel. Therefore Moses warns Israel about the eighth day (Numbers 29:35).
