Why Peleg the Prophet Lived Only Two Hundred Years

Midrash Aggadah, Genesis 10:25

"And to Eber were born two sons; the name of the one was Peleg" (Genesis 10:25). A great prophet was he, who was called by the name Peleg, because at the end of his days the earth was divided (niflega). For until Peleg, human beings lived four hundred years; but Peleg lived only two hundred years and a little. "And the name of his brother was Joktan" (Genesis 10:25) — because he made himself small (hiqtin), therefore he merited to establish twelve descendants.
