"He was a mighty hunter" — for he would hunt human beings and kill them. "Before the LORD" — for he knew his Master and deliberately intended to rebel against Him. "Therefore it is said, etc." — this refers to Esau, who is called "a man who knows hunting" (Genesis 25:27).
