The Smith Who Made the Vessel Can Mend It - Sarah's Womb Restored

Midrash Aggadah, Genesis 18:14

"Is anything too hard for the LORD?" (Genesis 18:14). A parable: like one who brought a broken bowl to the smith. He said to him: Do you know how to repair it? The smith said: From the very beginning I know how [to make it]; now [too] I am able to do it. Therefore it is said "within her" (Genesis 18:12) — concerning her womb. She said: From where is He able to create a womb for me? And how do we know that she had no womb? As it is said, "But Sarai was barren; she had no child" (Genesis 11:30) — she had no womb [literally "house of the child"]. "At the appointed time I will return to you" (Genesis 18:14). On Passover Isaac was born, and on Rosh Hashanah Sarah was remembered; and that year was an intercalated [leap] year, and Isaac was born at seven months.
