"And he said to them: Do you know [Laban son of Nahor]?" etc. — Do you know whether the Holy One, blessed be He, has whitened your iniquities and pardoned you, as it is said: "Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow" (Isaiah 1:18). "And they said: We know" — that He has certainly pardoned.
