The Two Storehouses of Seed and Why Only the Righteous Are Sown

Midrash Shmuel 1:3

Rabbi Pinchas and Rabbi Chilkiyah in the name of Rabbi Simon: This is comparable to a king who had two storehouses of good seed. He sowed the first, and it all came up as good seed; he sowed the second, and it all came up as thorns, weeds, and worthless growths. So too the wicked have no sowing, as it is written, "And the LORD hath given a commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown" (Nahum 1:14). But the righteous have a sowing, as it is written, "Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap according to mercy" (Hosea 10:12).
