Why a Heap of Wheat and Not Pine Cones in Song of Songs

Midrash Tanchuma Buber, Ki Tisa 2:2

"Your belly is a heap of wheat" (Song of Songs 7:3 [2]). Rav Idi said: But is not a heap of pine cones (istrovilin) more beautiful than one of wheat? Yet it (Scripture) says, "Your belly is a heap of wheat," etc. Rather, the world cannot subsist upon pine cones, but it can subsist upon wheat. Therefore it is written, "Your belly is a heap of wheat," etc.
