Why Moses Said God of the Hebrews and Pharaoh Gnashed His Teeth

Midrash Tanchuma Buber, Vaera 3:2

"The God of the Hebrews" (Exodus 5:3). Moses and Aaron said: because we had altered the wording, which was hard for us, they went back and said, "the God of the Hebrews." Rabbi Shimon ben Yochai says: He began to gnash his teeth against them, and said, "You are lazy, lazy," and so forth (Exodus 5:17).
