Another interpretation of (Song of Songs 2:10) "My darling (ra'yati)": this is the daughter of Abraham, who was My companion (re'i), as it is said (Isaiah 41:8), "the seed of Abraham who loved Me." "My fair one (yafati)" — by the merit of Isaac, who made Me beautiful (yippah) in My world when he stretched out his neck upon the altar. "And come away (u-lechi lach)" — by the merit of Jacob, to whom his mother said (Genesis 28:2), "Arise, go to Paddan-aram," and so forth. (Song of Songs 2:11) "For behold, the winter is past, [the rain is over and gone]." What is the meaning of "the winter" and "the rain"? Rather, the winter is six months, and there is no hardship within it except when the rain comes down.

Midrash Tanchuma Buber, Bo 7:2
