Neither the Name Nor the Throne Is Whole Until Amalek Falls

Yalkut Shimoni on Torah 268:2

"From generation to generation" (Exodus 17:16). The Holy One, blessed be He, said: from generation to generation I am after him, for generations upon generations - from the generation of Moses to the generation of Samuel, to the generation of Mordecai and Esther. Rabbi Berekhiah in the name of Rabbi Abba bar Kahana: as long as the seed of Amalek exists in the world, it is as if, so to speak, a wing covers the face. Once the seed of Amalek is destroyed from the world, the wing is removed, as it is said, "And your Teacher shall no longer be hidden by a wing" (Isaiah 30:20). Rabbi Levi in the name of Rabbi Hama bar Hanina: as long as the seed of Amalek exists in the world, neither the Name is whole nor the Throne is whole, as it is said, "For there is a hand upon the throne of the LORD [Kes Yah], war for the LORD against Amalek" - for the throne is written incompletely [Kes instead of Kisse] and the Name is written incompletely [Yah instead of the full Name]. Once his seed is destroyed from the world, the Throne is whole. What is the reason? "The enemy is finished in perpetual ruins, and the cities You have uprooted - their very memory is lost" (Psalms 9:7). What is written after it? "But the LORD sits enthroned forever; He has established His throne for judgment" (Psalms 9:8).
