Two Approaches to Moses at Sinai and the Spies

"And you approached me, all of you" (Deuteronomy 1:22). When you came to the mountain, you did not all come willingly. But here, "and you approached me, all of you" — men and women and children — you came. Yet at Sinai it says only, "and you approached me, all the heads of your tribes and your elders" (Deuteronomy 5:20).
